One of our funding initiatives last year was to invite people locally to come to see and hear the Oxford Welsh Male Voice Choir perform in Eynsham at the end of November. The response was fantastic and we made a profit of over £1,000 which will go a long way to help our causes in South Africa.
Whilst this was going on, our neighbours in Eynsham, June and Bill Middleton, went to Hout Bay near Cape Town to visit our charities. They very generously gave of their time. June is a fashion designer/dressmaker. She spent a week giving classes in dressmaking to a group of women connected with Ikhaya le Themba – a great asset to them and their families. Bill, an architect with roots in South Africa, spent time with the Everyday Heroes talking about architecture and took them on a trip to Cape Town. He also discussed the design of potential new facilities for “Little Angels” in Hangberg, one of our charities in need of new buildings.
This is a great example of collaboration between Eynsham and Hout Bay which we hope will inspire further initiatives.
