The Sibanye restaurant in Imizamo Yethu township, near Cape Town, provides the funding and facilities for charitable support to children living in the township who need extra social and educational input. Without the income from the restaurant these social and educational programmes cannot function. The restaurant building is no longer fit for purpose and needs a complete rebuild to obtain its necessary licences. Rebuilding it will also increase the potential income to the restaurant and thus enable the expansion of the vital support programmes.

The Fellowship is playing a key role in the redevelopment of the restaurant by arranging free architectural advice, seed-funded pre-construction support and advising on development programming and management. In the longer-term the Fellowship is looking to support further programmes in the township, working closely with the Sibanye team.

‘I have received the generous donation from the Fellowship and am deeply grateful for the assistance.’
